Getting to Gijon is pretty easy these days with the Costa Verde motorway making road travel so quick. It can still be an exciting adventure though, if for example you use the coastal railway.
Oviedo airport is the closest to Gijon and is actually called the "Aeropuerto de Asturias", due to the fact that it is 45km from Oviedo and 38k from Gijón. There are buses run by "Alsa" to Gijón from the airport that cost around 6 euros each way. A taxi would be quite expensive.
